The church<\/strong> is dedicated to the Madonna dell’Angelo<\/strong>, the protector of fishermen, and is a place of great devotion for the local inhabitants<\/strong>, who consider it a true spiritual guardian.<\/span><\/p>\n

The current building dates back to 1751<\/strong>, when Bishop Francesco Trevisan Suarez<\/strong> decided to demolish the old church and rebuild it in a new form<\/strong>, more imposing and impressive. The design<\/strong> featured a single-nave church<\/strong>, enhanced by an elegant Palladian-style portico that adds a touch of refinement to the fa\u00e7ade.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adjacent<\/strong> to the church, stands a Romanesque bell tower dating back to the 13th century<\/strong>. Quadrangular in shape, the bell tower was likely used as a lookout for sailors, an ancient landmark that still today marks the church\u2019s presence by the sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Legend of the Madonna dell’Angelo<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The story of the Madonna dell’Angelo<\/strong> is wrapped in a fascinating and mysterious legend. It is said that one day a statue of the Madonna<\/strong> was found floating miraculously on the waters of the Adriatic<\/strong>. Local fishermen, witnesses of this miracle, rescued it and kept it with great devotion. From that moment on, the sacred effigy was brought to the church<\/strong>, which became its permanent home.<\/span><\/p>\n

This legend, deeply rooted in the heart of the Caorle community, still today represents a strong bond between the town and its maritime tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not to be missed is the <\/span>quinquennial Procession of the Madonna dell’Angelo<\/a><\/strong> on the second Sunday of September:<\/strong> one of the most evocative moments in the religious life of Caorle.<\/span><\/p>\n
